West Side Story

I will be playing for West Side Story April 5-10, 2011 at Music Hall. This is my favorite show to play – the music is so fun! I’m lucky to have Robert Pherigo, pianist, live down the street – we can ride together for the 8 performances.

Cirque de la Symphonie 3/11/11

Signe and I played with the KC Symphony March 11 for their concert with Cirque de la Symphonie. The performers from the Cirque are exceptional! Aerial flyers, acrobats, strongmen and jugglers. It was amazing to watch!

Serenade performs at EABride Wedding Crash

Sunday 2/27 our flute, violin, cello trio performed at Loose Mansion for EA Bride magazine’s Wedding Crash! The magazine choses a deserving couple with limited funds and provided a free ceremony with all the bells and whistles. Bride Rachel was deployed in Afghanistan until November and was surprised with everything from music to honeymoon for free. We enjoyed being part of the excitement!

newEar concert this Saturday at Unitarian Universalist church

This Saturday come hear a fantastic program by composers who have all won the “Pulitzer” in composition. I will perform on two pieces by Jennifer Higdon and Paul Moravec! My husband and pianist for newEar ,Robert Pherigo, created the program. The Trio by Higdon for violin, cello and piano is amazing. The whole program is great! I hope to see you there!

Serenade Musicians with Allegro Children’s Choir 2010-2011 Season

Serenade string quartet will once again be performing with Allegro Childrens’ Choir for their 2010-2011 season. Directed by Christy Elsner, Allegro is a premiere children’s choir and draws sold-out audiences to every concert. The opening concert of the season is October 24, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, KS.

Serenade at Pleasant Heights Community of Christ

Serenade musicians will be providing wedding music Saturday October 9, 2010 at Pleasant Heights Community of Christ in KCMO. The bride has chosen flute, violin, and cello as her ensemble and we will be playing Pachelbel Canon and Handel LaRejouissance as part of their ceremony. What a beautiful day to get married!

Serenade musicians at Summer Music at the Cathedrals

Donna, Signe, Lisa and Deb performed 8/15/10 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception downtown as part of the Summer Music at the Cathedrals series. We played Requiem of Peace by Mario Pearson, music minister at the Cathedral. There are some really lovely moments in that piece! And fun to catch up with some other musicians in KC I haven’t seen in awhile.

Brian Lewis Young Artist Program July 9, 2010

Rene’, Signe and I are playing in the orchestra accompanying these amazing young Suzuki artists at Ottawa University chapel (1001 S. Cedar St, Ottawa, KS 66067 at 7:00 p.m.). It’s hard to believe kids in junior high and high school are performing at this level! On the program are concerto movements by Lalo, Barber, Prokofiev, Bruch, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Weiniawski and Saint-Saens. The finale is the last movement of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto played by Brian Lewis and 5 students – very impressive!

Serenade to perform in Topeka with Allegro Children’s Choirs

We will be helping Allegro kick off their summer tour with a concert at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 SW 8th Ave.in Topeka on June 4 at 7:00. The acoustics should be wonderful, and if you have never experienced Allegro, this will be the best 50 minutes you’ve spent in awhile!

Wedding at Simpson House 5/22/10

Finally, good weather for an outdoor wedding! Last weekend’s wedding was cold and rainy. We’re at Simpson House in their beautiful garden tomorrow for a 7:00 ceremony. Signe and Deb – see you there!
